Friends - several of you have said that you want to donate to my efforts supporting the Run for the Rose for cancer research. I can see that you are like me - you scroll on past to the next email and forget to actually donate! I am so guilty of doing that myself. :-) This is just a gentle reminder that if you want to donate, this is the time. The Run is the 31st of March, just 1 week away. Thanks in advance.
Pat Walsh had just turned 45 and his son had just turned one when he was diagnosed with glioblastoma - brain cancer. That was in June, 2018. He passed away the day after Thanksgiving. Just 6 months between diagnosis and death!
His friends and family all miss him, yes. But the whole town has been impacted by Pat’s work. He was Director of Planning and Development for the City of Houston. He is the one who orchestrated Plan Houston- the city’s first general plan toward innovative thinking.
Have you noticed the increased safety and number of improved bike paths? Thank Pat. And those of you who take your dogs with you when you eat out, again thank Pat. He started a grass roots effort to change the no pet policy at restaurants by creating “Paws on Patios.”
The potential of what more Pat could have accomplished for himself and his community was cut short way too soon. How many others have lost their lives to this awful disease?
Please donate to the Marnie Rose Foundation that supports research into eliminating brain cancer.
My daughter Mandy is sharing the video montage she put together showing a personal side of Pat. I know you will enjoy getting to know this outstanding personality.
Please join me in my efforts to support the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation!
The unwavering support from donors to the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has enabled the foundation to give more than $6 million over the past 16 years. Funds remain in Houston and are used immediately to enhance patient care.
- Clinical trials are started and expanded.
- Treatments are expedited from the laboratory to the patient.
- Brain cancer patients do not have the luxury of time.
Researchers receive immediate funding rather than waiting months or years. Our funds have led to extended survival for many patients.
Your donation truly is a gift of life!
